DESCRIPTION: APW - Elgin, Elite, Grade 383, 17J, 12S, 14K multicolor gold false box hinge original HC with majestic stag's head to rear, gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial with stylish Arabic hour numerals, SW-SS, two-tone wavy line pattern gilt and nickel damascene, s#16728009. Gross weight of assembled watch 49.3 dwt (76.8 g). A very attractive movement, Elgin notably made relatively few movements with two-tone damascene as compared to the majority of other American makers.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, good overall two-tone color though train bridge is not quite as strong as other plates, scratch across train bridge emanating from case screw, mild oxide to winding wheels and regulator index, regulator index is missing a screw; dial with few small hls above seconds-register, fine scratch within seconds-register; nearly mint hands; case front a bit wide of 90 degrees (to approximately 105 degrees) and has a small bit of side-to-side play at hinge, inner surface of front has an evident gold soldered past repair though there is no visibility of any issue at corresponding external portion of lid, case shows hardly any wear, no dents or dings, superb engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows light wear; clean plastic crystal.
